Draft Logo

This logo design represents two very important things in my own life, so it represents my website perfectly.  A handstand is the most basic skill in gymnastics, so I felt it would be a good design to choose as part of my logo.  When I looked at different pictures of handstands for my logo, I saw a drawing of a handstand with one leg bent.  This reminded me of the shape of a hanger, which is a huge symbol of fashion.  I wanted to find a way to combine the two, so I figured out how to manipulate the two symbols to become one.  To me, this logo is a symbol of gymnastics and fashion overlapping so easily.  The two are not something you would think would be one in the same, but to me they are.

I first copied a photo of a hanger into Illustrator, locked that layer, and then added a new layer.  On the new layer, I traced the hanger using the pen tool.  I then copied the photo of the gymnast in the same way.  After doing that with both photos I lined the outlines that I drew up, and saw how they fit together.  I used the Scale tool to make the two outlines sizes line up.  Then I used the Direct Selection tool to line the handstand drawing up with the hanger.  The legs needed to line up more equally, so I manipulated those point specifically.  Once they were lines up, I used the Eraser tool to erase the hanger in those spots, as the legs would take their place.  I then made the hanger’s stroke grey, and turned off the fill.  I made the gymnast a blush color, as that is my favorite color, using the fill and turned off the stroke.  I feel this logo perfectly represents how seamlessly the two worlds collide in my life, sports and fashion.

This is the photo of the gymnast that first inspired my drawing
