I wanted to capture how much gymnastics means, and the amount of emotion behind it for gymnasts. I interviewed two of my best friends and teammates, as well as myself. I asked what gymnastics means to them and what their favorite part about the sport was. I used short clips that I cut from the interview to use the responses in my audio story. After using that I wanted to use an audio clip that showed this emotion and feeling without having to put it in exact words. I found one of my most recent videos at Western Michigan where I received my career high beam score. The best part of that routine was my team cheering so loud for me in the background. I extracted the audio from that video and used it in my story. It really shows everyone the essence of team in college gymnastics, and how we support each other. The audio, even without the video, makes me emotional because its like I can hear my team supporting me without even seeing them. It is something special about gymnastics, and sports in general, and showing it with just audio enhances the power behind it.
Overall, my audio story is meant to show the love athletes have for the sport and one and other without showing a photo. Hearing directly what the sport means to people in their own words, but then hearing it is something very powerful. I wanted my audio story to tell you and then show you these things.
